Troop 888 Merit Badge Classes

Troop 888 requires all Scouts in the troop to earn their Eagle required Merit Badges from Troop driven Merit badges classes and instructions. These classes are typically a couple of hours a week, over a 5-15 weeks period. There will be strict age/rank requirements. Please review carefully.

Astronomy

Requirement: No Prerequisites

Introducing a young boy to astronomy is a wonderful opportunity to cultivate a lifelong interest in science. For Scout groups, astronomy is excellent as a stand-alone activity or as a supplement to camp-outs and evening meetings. Only 10 approved Scouts, per class.

Hiking Merit Badge

Requirement: First Class and preference will be given to scouts 14 or older

Exploring the outdoors challenges you with discoveries and new ideas. Your senses will improve as you use your eyes and ears to gather information along the way. Only 10 approved SCOUTS. Announcements will be made when registration closes.

Cycling

Requirement: At least 1st Class

Scouts will learn safety while cycling, first aid for injuries or illnesses that could occur while cycling, including cuts, scratches, blisters, sunburn, heat exhaustion. Only 10 approved SCOUTS. Announcements will be made when registration closes.

Personal Fitness

Requirement: At least 1st Class

For many Scouts, the Personal Fitness merit badge is one of the last speed bumps — or roadblocks — on the journey to the Eagle Scout Award. In the hands of an effective merit badge counselor, however, it can be more of an on-ramp to a lifetime of better health.
